The Labour Party's grassroots-inspired choice for putting down David Cameron is to be comparing the Tory leader to Gene Hunt, according to the Telegraph.Sir Humphrey might have called it a "brave" choice - to make a comparison to a popular TV character may not get the response that Labour are looking for. Cf. the Dave the Chameleon campaign, which rather had the opposite public response to the one intended.

My first instinct when I saw this poster was that it would help rather than hinder. Especially that Gene Hunt is on TV right now and undergoing a new surge of popularity.
